NYSC ANNOUNCES RELEASE OF ABDUCTED PROSPECTIVE CORPS MEMBERS

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) recently announced the release of two more abducted female prospective corps members, marking a total of four freed captives out of the eight who were taken hostage in August.

On Thursday, the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) announced the release of two more abducted female prospective corps members, bringing the total number of freed captives to four out of the eight who were taken hostage along with their bus driver in August. The two women were abducted by gunmen in Zamfara while en route from Akwa Ibom to the orientation camp in Sokoto.

 

In a statement, the NYSC revealed that recent efforts by the Nigerian Army led to the release of a male and a female abductee. The Director-General of NYSC, Brig.-Gen. Yush’au Ahmed, emphasized that negotiations are ongoing for the safe return of the remaining captives.

 

The NYSC, in collaboration with security agencies, affirmed its commitment to exploring every available strategy to ensure the safe release and reunion of the captives with their families. Eddy Megwa, the Director of Press, expressed the scheme's gratitude for the support from the Nigerian Army in their efforts to free the prospective corps members, highlighting the NYSC's unwavering dedication to promoting national unity and integration.

 

Megwa reiterated the NYSC's determination to uphold its statutory responsibility of fostering national unity and integration, underscoring the organization's resolve to see the safe return of the remaining abducted prospective corps members.
