The Ogun State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) recently paraded a 35-year-old man, Odewale Iseoluwa Akinleye, for allegedly defiling the 16-year-old daughter of his girlfriend. The suspect, who is said to be a musician and talking drum player, was paraded at the command’s state headquarters in Owu Dekudu village off Kobape road, Abeokuta, Ogun State.

Odewale confessed to having a sexual relationship with the victim, whom he met through her mother, his band leader. He claimed that the relationship began in 2017 when the victim's mother traveled to Israel, leaving her in the care of his family. He admitted to having sexual relations with her and even confessed to giving her lime after intercourse to prevent pregnancy.

The victim disclosed that Odewale had been molesting her since she was nine years old, while she was in Junior Secondary School one. The state Commandant, David Ojelabi, represented by the Public Relations Officer, Dyke Ogbonnaya, stated that the suspect would be appropriately charged before a competent court to ensure that justice is served.

Ojelabi also cautioned parents, especially mothers, to be cautious when interacting with men in the presence of their female children, as this could have a detrimental impact on the children.
