MARCUS RASHFORD BENCHED AS MANCHESTER UNITED MAKES CHANGES FOR CLASH AGAINST CHELSEA

Manchester United's star player, Marcus Rashford, found himself relegated to the bench by manager Erik ten Hag for the team's recent Premier League clash against Chelsea.

Manchester United's star player, Marcus Rashford, found himself relegated to the bench by manager Erik ten Hag for the team's recent Premier League clash against Chelsea. This decision came as a consequence of Rashford's dip in form, despite his impressive performance last season, during which he scored a career-high 30 goals.

Rashford's struggle to replicate his previous form has been evident this season, with the 26-year-old managing to score only two goals in 18 appearances for the club. His sole goal since September came from a penalty in a 3-0 victory over Everton last month. Following a lackluster performance in a 1-0 defeat at Newcastle, Rashford's commitment and work rate were called into question, particularly his failure to track back from his position on the right side of the attack. This led to his substitution by Ten Hag in the 60th minute.

Former United captain Roy Keane criticized Rashford's performance, emphasizing the need for him to contribute defensively as well as offensively. Keane highlighted the importance of setting an example, especially considering Rashford's age and experience.

In addition to Rashford, three other changes were made by Ten Hag for the match against Chelsea. Anthony Martial, Kobbie Mainoo, and Aaron Wan-Bissaka were also dropped, with Victor Lindelof, Sofyan Amrabat, Antony, and Rasmus Hojlund being brought into the starting lineup in search of a positive response.
