The National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency in Sokoto state recently made headlines after destroying a three-acre cannabis farm in Sayinna town. This was disclosed by Mr. Adamu Iro, the Commandant of NDLEA Sokoto Command, during a briefing at the state command headquarters.

The National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Sokoto state destroyed a three-acre cannabis farm in Sayinna town. Mr. Adamu Iro, the Commandant of NDLEA Sokoto Command, revealed this during a briefing at the state command headquarters on Saturday. He explained that following intelligence gathering, the officers and men of the command took action to uproot the illegal crop, which was planted in a maize farm, and subsequently arrested the suspect.

During the briefing, the commandant also highlighted that Sokoto has a history of marijuana farming. However, with the recent events, the state is striving to shed this reputation and disassociate itself from being known as a producer of the illegal crop.

The 32-year-old suspect, Anas Sani Sayinna, responded to questions from journalists, admitting that he had brought the seeds from Lagos six months ago. He urged his colleagues and others who are considering cultivating drug-related crops to refrain from doing so and instead engage in legal and meaningful ventures that can lead to self-reliance and success.
