The Centre for Humanity, a non-governmental organization (NGO), has praised Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State for fulfilling his promise to restore water to Enugu metropolis within 180 days, as pledged during his campaigns.

In a statement released by the Director of Communications and Public Enlightenment, Peter Ugwu, the Centre for Humanity acknowledged the achievement of the Mbah administration in providing an abundance of water to Enugu within the promised timeframe. The organization noted that this accomplishment, which typically would have taken a serious government at least four years to achieve, was a significant milestone for the state.

The statement expressed regret over the acute water shortages that had previously affected the people of Enugu, citing statistics from the World Bank indicating that millions of Nigerians lack access to safe drinking water and basic sanitation facilities, which has had adverse effects on health, well-being, and economic productivity.

The Centre for Humanity commended Governor Peter Mbah for the successful commissioning of the 9th Mile 24/7 Water Scheme, supported by a 4.4MW backup gas-powered electricity generation plant to ensure uninterrupted water supply to Enugu metropolis. The organization also urged the governor to focus on addressing issues such as bursting pipes, vandalism, and sabotage, which have led to significant water loss.

Furthermore, the NGO called upon the residents of Enugu to take ownership of the water facilities and protect them from vandals and saboteurs. It emphasized the need to hold accountable anyone found engaging in activities that undermine the progress made in providing public water to the people of Enugu.

Meanwhile, during one of the governor's visits to inspect reconnected institutions and commission water galleries, the Senior Prefect of the Godfrey Okoye University Secondary School, Master Radiance Kamah, expressed the students' appreciation for Governor Mbah's efforts. Kamah praised the governor's governance style and expressed confidence that Enugu would soon become the top-ranking state in Nigeria.

Former Minister of Power, Prof. Chinedu Nebo, described the administration's massive investment in water resources and the daily production of 120 million litres of water within 180 days as a remarkable achievement. He stated that Governor Mbah had redefined governance and restored public confidence in government.

Additionally, the President-General of Nsude Autonomous Community, Udi LGA, Engr. Nicholas Eneje, expressed gratitude to Governor Mbah for revitalizing the 9th Mile water project after 41 years. He acknowledged that despite initial doubts, the governor had delivered on his promise to provide pipe-borne water to the people of Enugu within the stipulated timeframe.
