ANTHONY JOSHUA KNOCKED OUT ROBERT HELENIUS AT 02 AREANA IN HEAVYWEIGHT BATTLE

Joshua delivered a spectacle performance knocking out Helenius at the 7th rounds. Helenius the Finnish boxer came in replacement of Dillan Whyte who failed a voluntary drugs test. However Helenius needed oxygen after the knock out.

Former heavyweight world champion Anthony Joshua declared himself as the dominant force in the division after an impressive knockout victory over late replacement Robert Helenius at London's O2 Arena. Joshua's ambitions are focused on a bout with Deontay Wilder, set to take place in Saudi Arabia in January.

During the fight, Joshua delivered a powerful overhand right that knocked out Helenius, who had stepped in on short notice, and left the Finnish boxer needing oxygen. Joshua celebrated this significant win, his first knockout victory since 2020, alongside supporters, including UFC fighter Conor McGregor.

Joshua expressed his desire for space and time to pursue his goals in the ring, emphasizing his intention to lead the heavyweight division to new heights. Eddie Hearn, Joshua's promoter, confirmed Saudi Arabian representatives' interest in a potential meeting between Joshua and Wilder, the former WBC champion.

Hearn outlined a "three-fight plan" for Joshua, which includes bouts against Helenius, Wilder, and the undefeated Tyson Fury. While Joshua's performance was remarkable, some critics remain skeptical about his readiness to face Wilder, one of the sport's most feared punchers, within the next six months.

Joshua's initial opponent, Dillian Whyte, had failed a voluntary drugs test, creating uncertainty for Joshua's future matchups. Helenius, with a record of 32 wins from 36 fights, was a credible replacement but not a significant threat that could jeopardize the potential showdown with Wilder.

Although Helenius showed resilience, especially in the early rounds, he eventually tired, causing Joshua's nose to bleed and opening a mark on his left eye. Joshua's recent fighting pattern of not throwing sustained combinations and his acknowledgment to trainer Derrick James that he faced challenges with his right punches were notable aspects of the fight.

In the undercard matches, various fighters, including Johnny Fisher, Derek Chisora, and Filip Hrgovic, showcased their skills and secured victories, contributing to an exciting night of boxing at the O2 Arena.
