NIGERIAN AIR FORCE CONDUCTS SUCCESSFUL AIR STRIKES ON BOKO HARAM/ISWAP TERRORISTS IN BORNO STATE

The Nigerian Air Force recently conducted a decisive airstrike operation against Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists in the Mandara mountains of Borno state.

Following air surveillance that confirmed the presence of over 100 heavily armed Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists in the Mandara mountains in Borno state, the Nigerian Airforce conducted air strikes on Friday, successfully eliminating the terrorists, including a wanted Commander, Abu Asad. The Director of NAF Public Relations, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, announced that the air strikes also destroyed the terrorists' structures and their troop carrier vehicles.

Describing the operation as one of the most successful strikes undertaken by the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai, Air Commodore Gabkwet stated that the Nigerian Air Force aircraft carried out the air strikes on November 24, 2023, targeting a massing of terrorists in an isolated location consisting of three zinced structures amid several trees.

The footage revealed that the terrorists were gathering at the location, potentially for a planned meeting or preparing for a major attack. Over 100 heavily armed terrorists were observed around the structures, which also had four troop carriers. The aftermath of the air strike showed that two out of the three structures and the entire troop carriers were destroyed. Notably, key figures in the Ali Ngulde group under Boko Haram, including Abu Asad, Ibrahim Nakeeb, Mujaheed Dimtu, Mustafa Munzir, and several fighters, were among those eliminated in the air strike.

Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, the Chief of the Air Staff, commended the Air Component Commander and his team, urging them to continue collaborating with the Land Component to maintain the pressure on the terrorists. He emphasized the need to make life unbearable for the terrorists and criminals until they surrender or are eliminated, in order to justify the trust and confidence placed in the Nigerian Air Force by the Federal Government and the people.
