FEDERAL GOVERNMENT WARNS LOTTERY AND GAMING OPERATORS, COMMITS TO WATER PROJECTS IN BENUE COMMUNITIES

Federal Government Warns Lottery and Gaming Operators, Commits to Water Projects in Benue Communities" - Minister Zephaniah Jisalo emphasized the potential of the lottery and gaming sector and warned operators to meet statutory obligations.

The Federal Government has issued a warning to operators in the lottery and gaming industry, threatening to sanction those who fail to meet their statutory obligations. The Minister for Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs, Mr. Zephaniah Jisalo, delivered this warning during the official commissioning and handover of 15 motorised boreholes in 15 Benue communities by the National Lottery Trust Fund.

 

Mr. Jisalo emphasized the significant potential of the lottery and gaming sector, stating that the government is committed to revitalizing the industry to generate substantial revenues for Nigeria. He highlighted the transformative impact of lottery-generated wealth in societies worldwide and expressed optimism about its prospects in Nigeria, given the country's large population and robust economy.

 

The Minister commended the National Lottery Trust Fund for successfully delivering water projects in the state, emphasizing the positive impact on the communities' access to clean water, disease prevention, and overall health improvement. The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mrs. Patricia Ibiene, urged the benefiting communities to take ownership of the projects and protect them from vandalism.

 

Dr. Bello Maigari, the Executive Secretary of the Fund, assured continued intervention to provide portable water supply to communities across the country. Acting Chairman of Tarka Local Government Area, Mr. Fidelis Oluga, expressed gratitude to the Federal Government for situating projects in the Council and pledged to protect and maintain them.

 

The Minister symbolically commissioned some of the projects situated in Gboko and Tarka LGAs.
