MINISTER ORDERS PROBE INTO ALLEGED COLLUSION WITH TERROR INMATES

The Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has taken decisive action in response to allegations of collusion between custodial personnel and terror inmates in Nigeria.

The Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has initiated an investigation into allegations of collusion between custodial personnel and terror inmates to fund the activities of proscribed terrorist groups in various parts of Nigeria. This move comes in response to the assertion made by Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, during his appearance before members of the House of Representatives on Tuesday.

In a statement released on Thursday in Abuja by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Babatunde Alao, the minister condemned the unpatriotic act and directed the Comptroller General of the Nigerian Correctional Service, Haliru Nababa, to thoroughly investigate the troubling allegation. The minister emphasized the need for a swift investigation, stating that any officer found to be involved in sabotaging the Nigerian Correctional Facility and, by extension, the security of the country, will face the full force of the law.

Furthermore, the minister highlighted ongoing efforts to reform the correctional service to align with international standards, ensuring that inmates are genuinely rehabilitated in line with the renewed hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR. He emphasized that the administration will not tolerate any breach from any officer, as the state's interest takes precedence over individual interests.
