PDP AWAITS JUDGMENT COPY IN PLATEAU STATE GOVERNOR'S REMOVAL CASE

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is currently awaiting the certified true copy of the judgment that led to the removal of Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is awaiting the receipt of a certified true copy of the judgment that removed Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, in order to thoroughly review it before determining its next course of action, according to Vanguard sources. Despite unsuccessful attempts to reach the party's National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Debo Ologunagba, and the National Legal Adviser, Adeyemi Agibade, it has been reported that the party is making frantic efforts to obtain the certified true copy.

A high-ranking party official, speaking on condition of anonymity, disclosed to Vanguard in Abuja that the party is preparing an "appropriate response." The source emphasized that the party's legal team is yet to receive the certified true copy of the judgment and that a decision on the next steps will be made in consultation with the party's candidate and relevant stakeholders at the state and federal levels after a thorough study of the judgment. The source also noted that the party retains the right to escalate the matter to the Supreme Court.

It is worth noting that both Ologunagba and the Acting National Chairman of the PDP, Amb. Umar Damagun, have previously raised concerns about alleged attempts to use the judiciary to overturn the PDP's victory in Plateau State. Damagun, the party's Acting National Chairman, recently expressed alarm over what he described as an effort by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to use compromised judges at the Appeal Court to overturn the PDP's victory in Plateau State.

Ologunagba, in a recent press conference, urged the President of the Court of Appeal to disband the Plateau State Election Appeal Court Panel due to varying and conflicting judgments, alleging that the court is "undermining democracy and the expressed will of the people of Plateau State." The party's spokesman further emphasized the need for the disbandment of the current Plateau State Election Appeal Court Panel and the constitution of a new panel to hear the remaining appeals, citing manifest bias in favor of APC candidates. The PDP demanded that the biased and inconsistent judgments of the Plateau State Election Appeal Court Panel be subjected to judicial review, expressing concerns about the potential implications for democratic processes, national peace, and stability.
