EDO STATE DEPUTY GOVERNOR ADVOCATES FOR COMPETENCE AND EXPERIENCE IN GOVERNANCE

Edo State's Deputy Governor has emphasized the urgent need for effective governance in the state, stressing the importance of leadership that understands the needs and politics of the region.

The Deputy Governor of Edo State expressed his belief that the people of Edo are in urgent need of effective governance and cannot afford to experiment with leadership that lacks an understanding of the state's politics and needs. He emphasized the importance of conducting a needs assessment to truly understand the requirements of the people, stressing the significance of competence, experience, and the ability to hit the ground running from day one for anyone aspiring to the governorship.

 

He dismissed the notion that he is determined to succeed Governor Obaseki at all costs, stating that his ambition to become Governor is not driven by personal insistence but by making himself available for the betterment of the people. He highlighted the interconnected destinies of the people and emphasized that there is no convention in Edo State regarding the zoning of political positions.

 

Regarding the issue of zoning in Edo Central, the Deputy Governor pointed out that historically, there has been no zoning convention in Edo State. He argued that equity and fairness suggest that Edo North should produce the next Governor, emphasizing that if he secures the PDP ticket, he would be the first candidate from Edo North to do so since 1999.

 

He expressed his commitment to the PDP as his preferred platform for realizing his ambition, stating that the party must listen to the voice of the people in order to win the election. He emphasized his street credibility and his focus on governance for the people, highlighting his track record of community-oriented projects and his stance against keeping money in banks.
