DISAGREEMENT ARISES OVER VOTE OF CONFIDENCE IN ONDO STATE GOVERNOR

Disagreement has arisen within the Ondo State Executive Council over a vote of confidence on Governor Rotimi Akeredolu. While some members have expressed their support and admiration for the governor, two commissioners have contested the decision.

The Ondo State Executive Council found itself in disagreement over a vote of confidence in Governor Rotimi Akeredolu. While some members praised Akeredolu as a courageous leader and mentor, two commissioners contested that it was not a decision made by the executive council.

In a statement, the commissioners and other members of the state executive council lauded the governor for the unprecedented progress achieved under his leadership. They expressed their admiration for Akeredolu's courage, exemplary leadership, and dedication to the welfare of the people of Ondo State. They declared their unwavering trust in the governor and endorsed his impactful leadership, pledging to continue working collaboratively towards the advancement and prosperity of the state.

However, the Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources and the Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Razaq Obe and Allen Sowore, dismissed the vote of confidence in Akeredolu, stating that they were not aware of the decision. Obe, who was in Lagos at the time, mentioned that he did not send his signature for the document as he was not informed about it and had not attended any executive meeting. Sowore, also absent from the state, emphasized that as appointees of the governor, they cannot express a lack of confidence in him and that passing a vote of confidence does not hold significance as they do not have the power to remove the governor.
