Super Eagles Striker Seeks Divorce, Custody, and N1bn Damages Over Alleged Infidelity and Kidnap

Nigerian footballer, Kayode Olarenwaju, has taken his marital woes to court, seeking a divorce and custody of his children amid allegations of infidelity, kidnapping, and business sabotage, in a dramatic and contentious legal battle.

Super Eagles striker, Kayode Olarenwaju, has filed a cross-petition at the Federal Capital Territory High Court, seeking to dissolve his marriage to his estranged wife, Ezinne, due to its irretrievable breakdown. He is also seeking custody of their children and demanding N1 billion in damages from UK-based pastor, Tobi Adegboyega, for alleged emotional trauma, financial loss, and loss of goodwill resulting from his affair with Ezinne.

Olarenwaju accuses Ezinne of committing adultery with Adegboyega and other men since their marriage in 2013. He also alleges that she kidnapped their children, who were later rescued by the Department of State Services. Additionally, he claims that Ezinne has undermined their joint business ventures and is not concerned with their children's well-being.

The matter has been slated for hearing on September 24, 2024. Olarenwaju's reliefs include a decree of dissolution of the marriage, custody of the children, and an order for Adegboyega to pay him N1 billion in damages. The case has been ongoing since March 2024, with Ezinne initially accusing Olarenwaju of making baseless allegations of infidelity and witchcraft against her and her mother.
