After a tragic auto crash claimed the lives of about four individuals at the Aba waterside bridge in Aba, the Abia State government has taken action by imposing restrictions on the movement of heavy-duty vehicles in Aba and Umuahia. The incident involved a container-laden truck that lost its brakes, resulting in a collision with a Toyota Sienna car and a tricycle, leading to the loss of four lives and several injuries.

The state government expressed its condolences to the families of the crash victims and offered prayers for the peaceful repose of the deceased and the swift recovery of the injured. Additionally, it announced its intention to provide necessary support to the families of the victims affected by the tragic event.

The government's decision to restrict the movement of heavy-duty vehicles from 7 am to 8 pm in Aba and Umuahia is a reinstatement of a previous directive issued during the administration of former Governor Okezie Ikpeazu. This move comes in response to heavy-duty vehicle operators flouting the order after the former governor left office. The announcement was made in a statement signed by Mr. Dodoh Okafor, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Public Communication, confirming the restoration of previous directives regarding the movement of heavy-duty vehicles within Aba and Umuahia areas between 7 am and 8 pm.
