LABOUR PARTY CANDIDATE DENIES CONGRATULATING IMO STATE GOVERNORSHIP ELECTION WINNER

Athan Achonu, the Labour Party candidate in the recent Imo State governorship election, has denied rumors suggesting that he visited and congratulated the election's winner, Hope Uzodimma of the All Progressives Congress.

Athan Achonu, the Labour Party candidate in the recent Imo State governorship election, has refuted rumors claiming that he visited and congratulated the election's winner, Hope Uzodimma of the All Progressives Congress. In a statement released on Wednesday by his spokesperson, Chibuikem Diala, Achonu asserted himself as the true victor of the election and dismissed the notion of visiting Uzodimma and offering congratulations as "wishful thinking that can never happen."

The statement characterized the rumor as "a script from the pit of hell and could only be the handiwork of evil minds, which this government is well known for." Diala further emphasized that the governor and his supporters are spreading false information following what he described as "the worst electoral heist on Imo State."

Diala labeled the congratulatory story as "childish and very poorly written," and clarified that Senator Achonu had unequivocally rejected the result declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), calling for its review and cancellation. Additionally, he highlighted that Achonu had jointly addressed the press with Samuel Anyanwu (SamDaddy), the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, insisting on the necessity of reviewing or annulling the governorship election's result. He also cautioned that unless INEC took action, the people might revolt.
