NSIB INVESTIGATES INCIDENT INVOLVING VALUEJET AIRLINES AIRCRAFT

The Nigeria Safety Investigation Bureau has been alerted to an incident involving a Bombardier CRJ-900LR aircraft owned by Valuejet Airlines.

The Nigeria Safety Investigation Bureau has been informed of an event involving a Bombardier CRJ-900LR aircraft with Nationality and Registration Marks 5N-BXR, which is owned by Valuejet Airlines. This information was conveyed in a statement signed by Dr. James Odaudu, the NSIB Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, on ... ... ... Wednesday in Abuja.

 

Dr. Odaudu stated that the incident took place at approximately 3:32 pm (Local Time) on Nov. 14 (Tuesday). He further mentioned that the Bureau has initiated the process of determining the immediate and underlying causes of the incident, with investigators already present at the scene.

 

The aircraft, carrying 62 passengers and 5 crew members, overshot the runway at runway 03 upon landing at the Port Harcourt International Airport from Lagos. Fortunately, there were no injuries or fatalities, as all passengers and crew members were safely evacuated, and no damage to the aircraft was reported, as per the director's statement.

 

Dr. Odaudu also urged the public and the media to refrain from making speculations about the potential causes of the incident and to respect the privacy of those on board.
