SYSTEM ERROR LEADS TO DEBT CANCELLATION BY MTN

MTN, a mobile telecommunication corporation, experienced a system error resulting in the cancellation of debt owed by its subscribers. The company acknowledged the issue and assured customers that it was being investigated.

The mobile telecommunication corporation, MTN, has acknowledged that the recent debt cancellation on its subscribers' network was due to a system error. This information was shared by the company through a tweet on its official handle on X (formerly Twitter) on Saturday. MTN clarified that an unexpected glitch in its system caused the cancellation of debt owed by its network subscribers, emphasizing that the debt status remained unchanged. Some users on X expressed their satisfaction with the debt cancellation, with many believing that MTN intentionally erased their debts.

One user named Fatai expressed his delight, stating, "Debt has been paid. MTN debtors, check your account, MTN don clear una gbese." Another user, Ikechukwu Amara, shared his disbelief, saying, "What a time to be alive. I actually thought it was a joke until I did it myself, my N5,000 debt has been cancelled." Another X user named Too Cute speculated that MTN was conducting giveaways to its customers nationwide, which could explain why all the debts were cancelled.

However, a user named Bukola expressed skepticism, stating that MTN would never give anything for free without benefiting in the end. Bukola added, "You trust companies in this country too much. How can MTN, which is facing an economic downturn, give Nigerians such a huge amount of money for free? How will they make up for it? This is too good to be true."

In response to the situation, MTN addressed the issue on its support handle, stating, "Yello, we are aware that some of our customers' xtratime debt was cleared. It was a system glitch, and the airtime was not cleared. Our support team is currently looking into the matter, and we will share feedback once it is received. Thank you."

Overall, MTN acknowledged the debt cancellation as a result of a system error and assured its customers that the issue was being investigated.
