The outgoing commissioners of the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) have called for financial autonomy to enable the commission to effectively deliver its services. The commissioners made the call during a valedictory session held in their honor, as their tenure expired on Wednesday.

The commissioners highlighted the challenges they faced while in office, including inadequate funding, which affected staff morale. They urged the government to provide adequate funding and human capital development to enable the commission to function effectively. They also called for the passage of the RMAFC Financial Autonomy Bill, which is pending before the Senate, to ensure the commission's independence and effectiveness.

The commissioners commended the Chairman of the Commission, Mr. Mohammed Shehu, for his leadership and achievements during their tenure. Shehu praised the outgoing members for their patriotism and commitment to nation-building, despite the commission's lean resources and poor funding. He also acknowledged their contributions to the various committees they served and wished them success in their future endeavors.

The Secretary to the Commission, Mr. Nwaze Okechukwu, also praised Shehu's leadership and commended the outgoing commissioners for their successful execution of their national assignment. The commissioners were appointed on June 26, 2019, for a five-year tenure, which expired on Wednesday.
