Former Governor of Kaduna State, Malam Nasiru Ahmad El-Rufai, has taken legal action against the Kaduna State House of Assembly following his indictment by the House Committee in a recent probe report. He filed a fundamental rights suit at the Federal High Court in Kaduna, asserting that the House committee did not afford him a fair hearing.

El-Rufai's lawsuit challenges the findings of the House Committee, which accused him of involvement in money laundering and other financial irregularities during his tenure as Governor of Kaduna State. The suit was filed by his lawyer, Abdulhakeem Mustapha, SAN.

The Kaduna State House of Assembly initiated the probe into El-Rufai's administration in April, focusing on issues such as loans, financial transactions, contractual obligations, and related matters.

According to a statement from the House, the investigation was launched during its 150th sitting on April 16, 2024. An Ad-Hoc Committee was formed to delve into the financial dealings of the Kaduna State government spanning from May 29, 2015, to May 29, 2023.

The legal challenge marks a significant development in the ongoing scrutiny of El-Rufai's governance, with implications for both his political standing and the integrity of the Kaduna State House of Assembly's investigative process.
