Ogun State Police Arrest Tutor for Defiling 13-Year-Old Girl in Obada-Oko Area

A devastating incident of child abuse has come to light in Ogun State, Nigeria, where a 13-year-old girl was allegedly defiled by her tutor, Femi Onayemi, who had been hired by her parents to provide educational support.

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested Femi Onayemi for allegedly defiling a 13-year-old girl in the Obada-Oko area of the state. According to a police source, the suspect was hired by the girl's parents to tutor her at their home in 2023. However, on June 9, 2024, the suspect jumped over the fence of the house and committed the crime.

The parents reported the incident to the police on June 12, 2024, and the suspect was arrested. The police spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident and stated that the suspect had confessed to the crime. This is not the first incident of its kind in the state, as a similar incident was reported in September 2023 involving a teacher who allegedly assaulted a 13-year-old male pupil.

The suspect, Femi Onayemi, was known to the survivor and her family, as they all attended the same church. The police were able to apprehend the suspect quickly after the incident was reported. The case is a disturbing reminder of the need for parents and guardians to be vigilant and ensure the safety of their children, even in situations where they are being tutored or cared for by individuals they trust.
