President Tinubu Approves Appointment and Redeployment of Executive Commissioners for Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regula

President Tinubu has approved the appointment of three new Executive Commissioners and the redeployment of one current Executive Commissioner for the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC).

President Bola Tinubu has recently given his approval for the appointment of three new Executive Commissioners to serve in the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC). Additionally, one current Executive Commissioner has been redeployed, pending confirmation by the Nigerian Senate. The announcement was made public through a statement issued by Chief Ajuri Ngelale, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, in Abuja.

The newly appointed Executive Commissioners are Mr. Bashir Indabawa, who will represent the North West region and serve as the Executive Commissioner of Exploration and Acreage Management. Dr. Kelechi Ofoegbu, representing the South East region, will take on the role of Executive Commissioner of Corporate Services and Administration. Mr. Enorense Amadasu, representing the South-South region, has been appointed as the Executive Commissioner of Development and Production. Additionally, Mr. Babajide Fasina, representing the South West region, will serve as the Executive Commissioner of Economic Regulation and Strategic Planning.

The President's decision to reshuffle and replace the Executive Commissioners is based on a comprehensive assessment of various factors related to the petroleum sector. The aim is to establish a regulatory framework and culture that discourages misconduct and promotes diligent and rule-based business practices throughout the industry. This move reflects the President's commitment to ensuring a transparent and accountable petroleum sector in Nigeria.

It is important to note that the appointments and redeployment are subject to confirmation by the Nigerian Senate. Once confirmed, the newly appointed and redeployed Executive Commissioners will assume their respective roles and contribute to the effective regulation and development of the upstream petroleum sector in Nigeria.
