GOVERNOR OTTI INAUGURATES MCC/Old EXPRESS ROAD, PLEDGES COMMITMENT TO ENHANCING TRADE AND ECONOMIC GROWTH IN ABIA STATE

During the inauguration of the MCC/Old Express Road in Aba, the governor emphasized that building good quality roads is crucial not only for improving vehicular movement but also for enabling businesses to thrive. He revealed that the government has awarded contracts for the reconstruction and rehabilitation of other economically important roads in the state.

 

Governor Otti stated that the inauguration of the MCC/Old Express Road signifies the government's commitment to the holistic restoration of Aba and the state as a whole. He declared that Aba is now open for business and encouraged potential investors to take advantage of the numerous opportunities available in the state. The governor emphasized that the government's motivation is to create an enabling environment for individuals to fulfill their dreams and support the growth of enterprises.

 

Furthermore, Governor Otti reiterated the government's commitment to implementing programs and policies that facilitate the creation of investment paths and partnerships, ultimately leading to better service delivery for the people. He also highlighted the government's efforts to address the issue of perennial flooding in Aba and mentioned that contracts have been awarded for the reconstruction of economically important roads in various local government areas.

 

Chief Jerry Kalu, the President of the Aba Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture, commended the government for its efforts in rebuilding Abia. He expressed confidence that the rebuilding agenda of the present administration will significantly contribute to the socio-economic growth of the state. Mr. Eric Shen, the Director of China Civil Engineering Construction Company, thanked the state government and the host community for their support, which contributed to the successful completion of the road project. He assured that the road was constructed with the highest engineering design and specifications to withstand the test of time and improve the living standards of the residents.

 

In a related development, the Commissioner for Works, Mr. Otumchere Oti, emphasized the administration's commitment to changing the narrative of the state in terms of good road network and infrastructure. He highlighted that the newly reconstructed Udeagbala and Umuimo Roads in Aba were structurally designed using the best specifications in road construction, including street lights and drainages. The commissioner urged residents to refrain from engaging in activities that could damage the roads' serviceability.

 

The inauguration of these roads marks a significant step towards improving transportation infrastructure in Abia State and fostering economic growth in the region.
