The unprovoked attack on Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, by some trigger-happy police officers has drawn widespread condemnation. The Yoruba Muslims Community in Rivers State expressed their strong disapproval of the assault and called for peace amidst the political crisis in the state. They urged all political actors to engage in dialogue and create a peaceful environment for the state to thrive and prosper.

The Yoruba Muslim Community emphasized that the actions of political leaders have caused panic, disappointment, and fear among the people. They stressed that the political tussle should focus on improving the lives and living conditions of the citizens, rather than being solely about the politicians themselves. The group also called for appropriate action to be taken against those responsible for the assault on the Governor, as the office of the Governor deserves respect and reverence.

Furthermore, the Yoruba Muslim community condemned the burning of the Rivers State House of Assembly and called on the police to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident. Alhaji Nasir Awhelebe Uhor, the State Islamic Leader and Vice President General of the Nigeria Islamic Council, criticized the attempt by some members of the State House of Assembly to impeach the Governor without any valid reason or adherence to the constitution. He warned that the ongoing intra-House of Assembly squabble could lead to a full-blown crisis with severe consequences for the residents of the state. He urged all parties involved to set aside their grudges and resolve their differences through peaceful dialogue.

Alhaji Nasir Awhelebe Uhor also called on Muslims in the state to stand firmly with the Governor until the threat to his tenure is completely eliminated. He commended Governor Fubara for his all-inclusive administration and urged others to recognize his efforts.
