TRAGIC MURDER OF FUT MINNA LECTURER HIGHLIGHTS URGENT NEED FOR IMPROVED SECURITY MEASURES.

Tragedy struck the Federal University of Technology, Minna, as Dr. Mrs. Adefolalu Funmilola, a respected female lecturer, was found brutally murdered in her room in the Gbaiko area of Minna.

In a tragic incident, Dr. Mrs. Adefolalu Funmilola, a female lecturer at the Federal University of Technology, Minna, Niger state, was found brutally murdered in her room in the Gbaiko area of Minna. Dr. Funmilola was associated with the Department of Biochemistry at the university and was on the verge of being promoted to the position of Professor before the university council was dissolved and subsequently reconstituted.

 

The shocking discovery of her death came to light when members of her church visited her home and noticed her absence from the church service. Concerned, they decided to check on her and forcibly opened the door to her room, only to find her lifeless body. According to an eyewitness, she was found with her throat slit, and knives were found beside her in a pool of blood.

 

Dr. Bolarin Gbolahan, the Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) at the Federal University of Technology, Minna, expressed his distress over the incident. He highlighted the increasing insecurity faced by academics, with frequent cases of kidnapping in the Keffi area. He emphasized the urgent need for action to address the growing level of insecurity, as academics and individuals are becoming victims of systemic failure.

 

The incident has sparked concern among the academic community and the public, raising questions about the safety and security of individuals in their own homes. The police have confirmed the incident and stated that investigations are underway. The body of Dr. Funmilola was taken to IBB Hospital in Minna, where her death was officially confirmed. The tragic event serves as a reminder of the need for improved security measures to protect individuals and prevent such heinous acts from occurring in the future.
