Muhammadu Sanusi II, the 16th Emir of Kano, expressed gratitude for what he deemed a divine intervention during his reinstatement. He conveyed this sentiment while delivering an appreciation speech upon receiving his appointment letter from Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf. Sanusi's reinstatement followed his dethronement in 2020 after a dispute with former Governor Abdullahi Ganduje.

Reflecting on the turn of events, Sanusi emphasized the role of divine will, citing an Arabian saying that suggests every occurrence serves as a lesson from God. He underscored the belief that Allah's decree cannot be altered by anyone and that everything unfolds according to His plan.

Recalling his previous appointment in 2014 by former Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso and now receiving the reappointment letter from Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, Sanusi acknowledged the historical significance. He highlighted the rarity of his situation, noting that in the thousand-year history of Kano Emirs, such an event had never occurred before.

Sanusi also drew attention to the trend of political interference leading to the fragmentation of emirates in northern Nigeria. He praised the government and assembly for their actions, characterizing them as a "rescue mission" to preserve the integrity of the traditional institution.

Governor Yusuf, in presenting the appointment letter, affirmed Sanusi's reappointment based on his competence, credibility, and popularity. He urged the Emir to uphold Islamic principles and leverage his position to foster unity within the emirate, particularly among different Islamic sects in the state.
