Chairman of the Northern Governors Forum and governor of Gombe State, Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya, expressed his support for the establishment of State Police during a meeting with Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. He emphasized that the issue of State Police is a constitutional matter that requires approval from the National Assembly and two-thirds endorsement from State Assemblies.

Governor Yahaya highlighted the benefits of State Police, stating that it would bring security closer to the people and enable better monitoring and management. He believed that the President and the majority of Nigerians support the idea, anticipating smooth passage of the bill through the National Assembly and State Assemblies.

The governor emphasized his commitment to the creation of State Police, confident that many states in Nigeria would also pursue this direction. He mentioned the efforts of the Gombe State government and other states in the North-East region to improve electricity supply and address the issue of out-of-school children.

Regarding education, Governor Yahaya assured that governors in the Northern part of the country are determined to provide education for children in the region, aiming to eradicate the problem of out-of-school children. He pledged to work diligently to achieve his administration's goals for Gombe State in the remaining three years of his tenure.
