The Kaduna State Governorship Election Tribunal has scheduled Saturday, August 5, for Gov. Uba Sani, INEC, and the All Progressive Congress (APC) to present their defense in response to a petition filed against the governor's election. The petition was filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Mr. Muhammad Isah-Ashiru, who are challenging Sani's victory and seeking its nullification.

On Thursday, the petitioners concluded their case, leading the Justice Victor Oviawe-led tribunal to order the defense to present its case starting on Saturday. The tribunal further specified that the respondents must complete their defense within the 10-day period required by the law.

Earlier, Mr. Oluwole Iyamu (SAN), the lead counsel for Mr. Muhammad Isah-Ashiru, called his final witness, an INEC official, but stood the witness down. He argued that the witness lacked the competence to represent INEC on matters related to the petition before the tribunal.
