EFCC Issues Stern Warning to Fraudsters Amid Inauguration of New Radio Station

In a significant move to bolster its fight against corruption, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has issued a stern warning to fraudsters, emphasizing its unwavering commitment to tracking down and prosecuting those involved in corrupt activities.

In a bid to escalate the battle against corruption, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has issued a stern warning to fraudsters, asserting its relentless pursuit of them round the clock. Speaking at the inauguration of the EFCC's new radio station, 97.3FM, in Abuja on Thursday, the Executive Chairman of the anti-graft agency, Ola Olukoyede, vowed that no efforts would be spared in tracking down and prosecuting all those involved in corrupt activities.

Olukoyede emphasized the EFCC's unwavering commitment to combating corruption, emphasizing that the agency is now more resolute than ever to eradicate the scourge from the country. He declared, "We are getting stronger for the fight, and there will be no hiding place for fraudsters as EFCC will get them anywhere, anytime."

The EFCC chairman's stern warning follows the agency's recent successes in prosecuting high-profile suspects and recovering substantial amounts of looted funds. The commission's new radio station, inaugurated by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, forms part of EFCC's strategy to engage with the public and garner support for its anti-corruption activities.

Explaining the significance of the radio station, Olukoyede stated that it would serve as a platform for disseminating information, educating the public on the dangers of corruption, and soliciting feedback from Nigerians regarding EFCC's operations. He stressed the importance of effective communication in the fight against graft, noting that owning a radio station is not merely a status symbol for the EFCC but a vital tool for mobilization against corruption.

Olukoyede highlighted the station's role in facilitating discussions, exchanging ideas, and gauging public sentiment concerning EFCC's work. He reiterated the agency's commitment to serving the public and deepening the fight against corruption in alignment with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda.

Meanwhile, Minister Mohammed Idris commended the EFCC for its anti-corruption efforts and urged the agency to sustain its commendable work. He also charged the management and staff of the new radio station to adhere to broadcasting and journalistic ethics.

The minister emphasized the importance of shaping narratives surrounding the fight against corruption, stressing the ministry's commitment to restoring trust in public communication and amplifying the government's policies and programs. With the inauguration of its new radio station and renewed determination, the EFCC is poised to elevate its anti-corruption efforts, sending a clear warning to fraudsters to beware.
