PRESIDENT TINUBU HIGHLIGHTS POSITIVE OUTCOMES OF ECONOMIC MEASURES AND CALLS FOR PRIVATE SECTOR COLLABORATION

During the 29th Nigerian Economic Summit (NES) held in Abuja, President Bola Tinubu shared his positive outlook on the outcomes of the unification of the foreign exchange market and the removal of fuel subsidy.

At the 29th Nigerian Economic Summit (NES) in Abuja, President Bola Tinubu expressed his belief that the unification of the foreign exchange market and the removal of fuel subsidy have yielded positive outcomes. He stated that these measures were implemented to stimulate economic growth and address the distortions caused by an unsustainable fiscal deficit and hidden subsidies. Tinubu emphasized that these changes have been effectively tackled.

Furthermore, Tinubu highlighted the various measures his government has taken to revive the economy. These include the introduction of a N500 billion intervention to support small businesses and the agricultural sector. He also mentioned that by January 2024, the new student loan program and consumer credit schemes will be implemented. Tinubu called on the private sector to collaborate with the government in order to achieve a stronger economy for the country. He emphasized the importance of public-private partnerships and cited his successful experience in transforming Lagos State as an example.

In his address, Tinubu urged the private sector, particularly the Nigerian Economic Summit Group, to go beyond their previous efforts and contribute even more. He encouraged them to bring their ideas, leadership, capital, and the collective will of their conglomerates and business networks to build a future of renewed hope. Tinubu assured that his government is prepared and asked if the private sector is also ready to join forces in this endeavor.
