Dr. Abdul-Azeez Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, who was the Lagos State PDP Governorship Candidate in the 2023 General Elections, is seeking a transfer of his appeal against the verdict of the Lagos State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal. The tribunal, headed by Justice Arum Ashom, had dismissed Adediran's petition and upheld the re-election of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu in the March 18 governorship election.

In response to the tribunal's decision, Adediran decided to challenge the verdict at the Lagos Division of the Court of Appeal. However, in a statement signed by the Head of his media and communication team, Mr. Ogunleye, Adediran requested the Court of Appeal president to transfer the case to Abuja.

Adediran explained that his request was in line with a directive from the Chief Justice of the Court of Appeal, Dongban-Mensem, which allowed for the transfer of some appeals. He pointed out that Dongban-Mensem had permitted the transfer of appeals in 17 states in southern Nigeria to the Lagos Division of the Court of Appeal. Adediran prayed for the transfer of his appeal to the Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal, emphasizing that it would ensure fairness, objectivity, and discourage interference.

In a related development, the Lagos State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal also dismissed a petition filed by Mr. Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, the Labour Party Candidate for the election. The tribunal's decision further solidified Governor Sanwo-Olu's victory in the election.
