In Awka, the capital of Anambra State, a disturbing incident has caught the attention of social media users. Viral videos show escorts allegedly associated with Ossy Onuko, an aide to Governor Chukwuma Soludo, brutally beating a driver from the transport company GUO.

Viral videos circulating on social media show an incident that took place at the UNIZIK Junction in Awka, the capital of Anambra State. The videos depict escorts allegedly associated with Ossy Onuko, an aide to Governor Chukwuma Soludo, beating a driver from the transport company GUO. The driver was reportedly attacked for overtaking their convoy. The incident has sparked outrage among residents, who are calling on the state Governor to address the behavior of his appointees and ensure they act responsibly. A resident and human rights activist named Paschal has urged the Inspector General of Police, Anambra State Commissioner of Police, the Department of State Services, and all human rights defenders to intervene and protect civilians from such acts of violence.

GUO, the transport company, has expressed its intention to sue the government official allegedly involved in the incident. The company claims that its driver was beaten with a cutlass by political thugs on the orders of Onuko, causing distress to the passengers who witnessed the assault. GUO has vowed to seek legal action to prevent such inhumane treatment of citizens from recurring. The company also criticized the Anambra State Government for defending the actions of its officials without speaking to the driver or passengers involved, and called on the Governor to condemn the conduct and establish a panel of inquiry to address the incident and prevent similar occurrences in the future.

In response, Onuko, the governor's aide, issued a statement apologizing for the incident and denying his involvement in the convoy. He took responsibility for the altercation and expressed his apologies to the driver, GUO, and those who were affected by his association with the incident. Onuko clarified that he was driving with two civil defense officers in his Toyota Hilux vehicle, and there was no convoy present.
