Senator Shehu Sani Urges Vigilance Against Potential Influx of Expelled Troops to Nigeria

Senator Shehu Sani recently highlighted the imperative of preventing French forces and American troops, expelled from Niger Republic, from seeking refuge in Nigeria.

Senator Shehu Sani emphasized the necessity of not allowing French forces and American troops expelled from Niger Republic to seek refuge on Nigerian soil. He urged President Tinubu to prioritize equipping and funding Nigeria's military and other security forces adequately to address the nation's security challenges effectively. Sani's statement underscores the urgency of ensuring Nigeria's sovereignty and security integrity.

Additionally, Senator Sani called on Tinubu to allocate sufficient resources to bolster Nigeria's military capabilities in confronting internal and external threats. This call comes amid concerns raised by Northern leaders regarding the potential relocation of military bases from the Sahel region to Nigeria by the US and French governments. The Northern leaders cautioned against such a move, citing potential risks and dangers to Nigeria's security.

They warned that allowing the US and French governments to relocate their military bases to Nigeria could pose significant threats to the nation's stability and sovereignty. These leaders highlighted ongoing lobbying efforts by the US and French governments to persuade Nigeria and other regional countries to sign new defense agreements facilitating the redeployment of their expelled troops. Senator Sani's advocacy aligns with broader concerns about safeguarding Nigeria's security interests and sovereignty.
