APC National Legal Adviser Discusses Edo State Developments

In a recent interview on Channels Television's Politics Today, Professor Abdulkareem Kana, the National Legal Adviser of the APC, addressed the party's perspective on the unfolding events in Edo State.

In an interview on Channels Television's Politics Today, Professor Abdulkareem Kana, the National Legal Adviser of the APC, made statements regarding the party's stance on recent developments in Edo State. This follows Senator Monday Okpebholo's victory in the Edo APC governorship primary, where he secured 12,433 votes against several other aspirants on February 22.

Following the primary, Dennis Idahosa, among others, contested the outcome and called for a fresh election. However, the APC asserted that the internal dispute was resolved after Idahosa was selected as the running mate to the Edo governorship candidate.

Kana emphasized that, until the ruling party receives formal legal documents from the court, any reports regarding legal challenges remain speculative. He refuted suggestions of internal conflicts within the Edo APC, stating that the primary election had concluded, and the party was focused on preparing for the forthcoming governorship election.

According to Kana, although there were initial legal actions initiated by some individuals, these were later withdrawn, with notices filed to discontinue the cases. He attributed the resolution of internal party issues in Edo State to the timely intervention of the President, which facilitated reconciliation among different factions within the party.
