Finidi George Yet to Finalize Backroom Staff Amid Reports of Former Teammates as Contenders

In the wake of Finidi George's appointment as the new head coach of the Super Eagles, speculation arises regarding his choice of backroom staff, particularly concerning former teammates Daniel Amokachi and Emmanuel Amuneke.

Newly appointed Super Eagles head coach, Finidi George, has not yet made decisions regarding his backroom staff, including former teammates Daniel Amokachi and Emmanuel Amuneke. Despite reports suggesting that Amokachi and Amuneke are contenders for the assistant coach position, Finidi has not confirmed any appointments.

Both Amokachi and Amuneke had also applied for the Super Eagles head coach position. However, it appears that Finidi is inclined towards selecting his own assistants rather than working with his former teammates.

Reports indicate that Finidi is keen on having the freedom to choose his coaching staff, and he may opt not to include Amokachi and Amuneke in his team. The Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) has previously stated that the new Super Eagles coach will have the autonomy to select his assistants, emphasizing the importance of giving Finidi the freedom to build his own coaching setup.
