Controversy Erupts Over Pastor's Advice on Porn Addiction

A recent sermon by Dr. Abel Damina, founder of Abel Damina Ministries International, has ignited controversy within Christian circles regarding his unconventional advice on dealing with porn addiction.

The remarks of Dr. Abel Damina, the founder of Abel Damina Ministries International, regarding the remedy for porn addiction, have sparked controversy among Christians, particularly conservative circles. During an appearance on Comfort FM's Righteous Invasion of Truth (RIOT) program in Uyo, Damina suggested that individuals struggling with pornography addiction should not attempt to stop watching it but should instead balance it with spending more time listening to the word of God.

Damina's advice has drawn criticism from various quarters, with some labeling it as encouraging sin. Pastor Gideon Odoma of the Fortress Ministry denounced Damina's stance, emphasizing that pornography is a perversion and should be treated as such. He accused Damina and others like Apostle Suleman of promoting teachings that deviate from true Christian doctrine.

Adding to the dissent, Pastor Chris Oyakhilome cited biblical references to underscore that pornography is a sin that Christians should wholly avoid. He emphasized the shame associated with nakedness and equated pornography with prostitution, urging believers to distance themselves from it.

Despite Damina's supporters, including Pastor Oge of Circle Church, who shared personal experiences of struggling with addiction, many Christians voiced their disagreement. They argued that embracing sin while engaging with the word of God is contradictory to biblical principles, advocating instead for complete avoidance of triggers and reliance on the Holy Spirit for deliverance.

While some defended Damina's remarks as aligned with biblical principles, others rebuked them, asserting that they promote a dangerous misunderstanding of Christianity. Amidst the debate, it's evident that Damina's unconventional advice has stirred significant discussion within Christian communities.

Damina, known for his role as CEO of Kingdom Life Network and Senior Pastor of Power City International, remains a prominent figure in Christian ministry, despite the controversy surrounding his recent comments.
