NIGERIA'S SUPER EAGLES SECURE THRILLING 3-2 VICTORY OVER MOZAMBIQUE IN INTERNATIONAL FRIENDLY

In a thrilling international friendly match on Monday, Nigeria's Super Eagles secured their first victory since 2019 by defeating Mozambique 3-2. The game, held in Portimão, Portugal, saw Terem Moffi, Frank Onyeka, and Moses Simon scoring for Nigeria.

 

Mozambique initially took the lead in the seventh minute with a goal from Geny Catamo. However, Terem Moffi of OGC Nice equalized for Nigeria with a close-range shot just 13 minutes later. Nigeria then took control of the game, and Frank Onyeka of Brentford seized an opportunity at the half-hour mark, firing a shot from the edge of the box to give Nigeria a 2-1 lead.

 

Later in the game, Mozambique conceded a penalty due to a handball in their 18-yard box. Moses Simon stepped up and converted the penalty, securing Nigeria's third goal. The first half ended with Nigeria comfortably leading, marking a significant and long-awaited victory in friendly matches.

 

In the second half, Mozambique managed to score a second goal through Faisal Bangal, but Nigeria held on to secure the 3-2 victory. This win is a positive outcome for Jose Peseiro's team, providing a boost of confidence and ending their winless streak in international friendlies.
