Nigerian superstar Oyinkansola Aderibigbe, widely known as Ayra Starr, has unveiled the artwork and tracklist for her upcoming sophomore album titled ‘The Year I Turned 21’. The Grammy-nominated singer surprised her fans by sharing the artwork on her social media platforms, expressing her excitement about the project. In the artwork, she poses in a highway setting, leaning on a vintage car, and describes herself as looking like "a bag of money".

Starr announced that the album, also known as ‘TYIT21’, is available for pre-order and is scheduled for official release on May 31, 2024. The anticipation for her album has been high, with fans eagerly awaiting its release. Notably, Nigerian music star Wizkid showed his support by reposting her artwork unveiling with a caption expressing his admiration.

The album features collaborations with various heavyweight artists from different countries, including Asake and Seyi Vibes from Nigeria, Giveon and Coco Jones from America, and Anitta from Brazil, among others. This diverse lineup hints at the global appeal and influence of Starr's music.

Starr's journey in the music industry began after she started posting covers of popular songs by other artists on Instagram. Her talent caught the attention of renowned record executive Don Jazzy, who subsequently signed her to his record label, Marvin Records. She gained international recognition in 2022 with the release of her hit song "Rush", which charted in several countries and earned her a nomination at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards for Best African Music Performance.

"Rush" also marked significant milestones for Starr, making her the youngest African female artist to surpass 100 million views on a single YouTube video within five months of its release. Her success underscores her rising prominence in the music industry and her growing influence as an artist.
