However, instead of providing his defense, Davido expressed his anger towards the Nigerian media, claiming that they are only interested in negative news about him. He cited his donation to orphanages in Nigeria as an example, questioning why the media did not give adequate coverage to his philanthropic efforts. Despite his outburst, it should be noted that his donation to the orphanages was indeed reported by various newspapers, including Vanguard.

In 2021, Davido publicly announced that he had donated N250 million to 292 orphanages as part of his birthday celebration. He had also requested his friends and colleagues in the entertainment industry to contribute to the cause. While it is true that the media has covered his charitable act, Davido's frustration with the media seems to stem from a perception that negative news about him receives more attention.
