"5 Tips for Yoga Teachers: How to Diversify Your Practice and Avoid Burnout

Yoga classes are an endless experience that opens up new horizons every day on the path to harmony of mind and body. And if you are a yoga teacher, you become a guide into the world of endlessly interesting practice for those who are in front of you on the mats. But sometimes even the guide gets tired and burns out. How to make yoga classes not boring and breathe new life into routine practice? We will throw in some fresh ideas for teachers.

1 Create your own atmosphere

Light and scents will help create an atmosphere of calm and quiet. The simplest thing you can do is to dim the lights in the yoga room. If you go further and take care of non-standard lighting, you can use candle-shaped lamps or simple garlands (not in disco blinking mode) laid out around the perimeter of the room. The aroma of lavender or citrus oil will be the final touch in creating a relaxing yogic coziness.

2 Update playlist

Music sets the tone for your class. If power yoga is your thing, choose upbeat music. Hatha or Yin yoga call for a relaxing, meditative playlist. The same playlist played over and over will eventually get boring, but in the world of yoga music, new albums are released every year, and even pop stars like Belinda Carlisle occasionally release mantra albums. Belinda Carlisle’s Kundalini Yoga album Wilder Shores from last year might give your practice a new boost.

3 Add philosophy

Yoga is a mix of philosophy, physical exercise, and meditation. Adding philosophy doesn’t mean turning your classes into a sect or a sermon. But a small element of philosophy will give yoga classes a subtle ideological quality. You can start one class with a quote, and dedicate another to the concept of love or silence. We recommend filling your practice not only with exercise for your body, but also with food for your mind.

4 Get in touch

Paired poses and massage elements will help to diversify yoga classes. Why not introduce the participants of the class to each other? If the people on the mats are not against it, paired asanas can become not only a good workout for muscles and joints, but also a reason to socialize.

5 Combine different styles

The diversity of yoga schools in itself eliminates boredom during classes. Tired of Hatha Yoga, take a few kriyas from Kundalini. Do power yoga, and then immerse yourself in deep meditation. Elements from different schools will not let the students get bored on the mats, nor will the inquisitive teacher, who is also sailing the seas of practice in search of harmony and the path to himself.

Yoga in hammocks and its antigravity nuances

What happens when you combine yoga and the feeling of flying? The correct answer is yoga in hammocks, or antigravity yoga, fly yoga, aero yoga – it has many names, directions and features, but the essence is the same – yoga plus the force of gravity work wonders and turn training into childish delight, relaxation and fun therapy.

Yoga and hammocks were practically combined by American choreographer Christopher Harrison, who used a hammock on Broadway to perform complex acrobatic tricks. He once noticed that if you hang upside down in a hammock, your mood improves and your fatigue from training disappears.

Having visited India in the early 90s, Harrison decided to introduce yoga into suspended acrobatics, not forgetting about dance elements and Pilates.

Since 2007, antigravity yoga has been a success in American fitness clubs and is walking (or rather, hovering) around the planet. In our country, yoga in hammocks is becoming more and more popular.

Safety

Hammocks are attached to the ceiling with strong carabiners. The hammock fabric is a two-layer parachute nylon that can withstand up to 200 kg - it will definitely not break! There are two types of hammocks: one is in the form of a canvas folded in two layers, the other has various devices added - fasteners and hand stirrups. Hammock models with details expand a person's physical capabilities and make training easier. For convenience, hammocks are equipped with soft inserts that reduce the pressure of the fabric on the body.
