Nollywood Mourns the Loss of Veteran Actress Cynthia Okereke

In a tragic development, veteran Nollywood actress Cynthia Okereke has reportedly passed away.

Last year, Okereke and fellow actor Clemson Cornel were kidnapped in Enugu but thankfully released unharmed by their abductors after being reported missing.

The Nigerian film industry, Nollywood, has been dealt another blow as news of Cynthia Okereke's demise surfaced. Joseph Okechukwu, her colleague, shared the heartbreaking news on his verified Twitter account on Wednesday. Accompanying his post was a photo of the actress, and he expressed his deep grief, stating that he had intended to pay for her flight ticket to continue their shared project, only to learn that she had departed for the heavenly abode the previous night. Okechukwu described the shock as one of the most difficult experiences he has faced recently and prayed for the strength to overcome it. He fondly remembered Okereke as an extraordinary, respectable, and delightful soul whom he had known for over two decades.

The sudden and unceremonious departure of Cynthia Okereke leaves everyone speechless, as she was a beloved presence in the industry. Her passing serves as a reminder of the fleeting nature of life. Rest in peace, Cynthia. May your gentle soul find eternal rest until we reunite in glory.

It is worth noting that Okereke's abduction last year in Enugu, alongside Clemson Cornel, had caused great concern. Fortunately, they were ultimately released unharmed by their captors after being missing for several days.

Sadly, Cynthia Okereke's death adds to the recent string of losses within the movie industry. Notable names such as Saint Obi, Don Brymo, Murphy Afolabi, Femi Ogunrobi (Papa Ajasco), and Chikezie Uwazie have all passed away in recent times, marking a significant loss for the industry
