Bello El-Rufai: Nurturing Leadership Through Mentorship with Governor Uba Sani

In a recent interview titled "With Shuraim," Bello El-Rufai, the Member of the House of Representatives representing Kaduna North Federal Constituency, revealed the influential mentorship role of incumbent Governor Uba Sani in his political journey.

In a recent video interview titled "With Shuraim," Bello El-Rufai, the Member of the House of Representatives representing Kaduna North Federal Constituency, disclosed that incumbent Governor Uba Sani serves as his mentor, and they maintain regular communication. This revelation, sighted by PUNCH Online, sheds light on the close relationship between Bello and Sani, highlighting the mentorship dynamic that exists between them.

Bello reminisced about how two friends influenced his decision to work under Sani while the latter served as a Senator in the 9th Senate. Initially, Sani expressed skepticism, assuming Bello would decline the offer due to societal perceptions regarding the children of influential figures. However, Bello emphasized that his experience working with Sani provided valuable insights into the politics of legislative representation, shaping his understanding of the political landscape in Nigeria.

Despite the transition where Sani succeeded Bello's father as the APC candidate for governor, their mentorship bond remained strong. Sani reportedly advocated for Bello's candidacy for the House of Representatives, recognizing his potential and prior experience as a senior legislative aide in the 9th Senate. Bello clarified that his decision to pursue a political career was not influenced by his father, emphasizing Sani's pivotal role in encouraging him to run for office.

Acknowledging his responsibilities as a representative of Kaduna North, Bello expressed his commitment to serving his constituents diligently. He highlighted various initiatives aimed at improving education, healthcare, and other aspects of his constituents' welfare. Despite facing pressure in his legislative role, Bello remains grateful for the achievements made thus far.

Bello also addressed the perception of him being seen as the "poster boy of arrogance" due to his online presence. He emphasized the importance of distinguishing between constructive criticism and outright hatred, citing instances of online vitriol directed towards him, particularly during personal tragedies.

Regarding the ongoing debate over the state's debt profile, Bello's brother, Bashir El-Rufai, criticized Governor Sani for allegedly shirking responsibilities and surrounding himself with incompetent aides for political reasons. However, Sani's spokesperson stated that the governor would not engage in a public exchange with Bashir El-Rufai over these allegations.
